First Leek Trip
As we are moving up to live in Leek, we decided to get an idea about what the town and surrounding countryside had to offer.
We stayed at the Caravan and Camping site in Blackshaw Moor just outside of Leek.
This is a quiet, secluded site which is approximately 3 miles from Leek along the A53.
D&Gs 108 bus service runs between Buxton and Ashbourne, via Leek, but it is not very regular and so it is easier to get a taxi if going into Leek, which is what we did on the Friday night.

Why We Choose Our Site?
What We Did
On the Friday night we had booked a table at the Three Horseshoes County Inn in Blackshaw Moor, which is about a half a mile walk along the A53 from the site. The A53 has a pavement that runs along side it so you do not have to walk on the main road, although you do have to cross it twice!
The food and service in the pub were excellent, although the only real ale they had on was Wainwrights Gold, but that was kept well.
On the Saturday night we went into Leek and found that it is a vibrant and lively town with a good range of pubs, both big and small, and restaurants. We went for a walk around some of the pubs, with the Den Engel, the Fountain Inn and the Roebuck Inn standing out because of the quality and variety of the beer choice. We decided to eat at the Chennai Indian restaurant, and although the food was okay, some of the clientele let the ambience of the restaurant down!!
